Being a sensitive soul has many gifts as well as drawbacks. Souls such as these are
unique because of their unconscious ability to perceive events and people more intensely than others. The constant bombardment
of stimuli from the outside world (individuals emotions, sounds and energy) can present itself as a continuous challenge to
stay centered within oneself for these individuals.
Many
believe sensitive souls are old souls reincarnated. Legend has it that they are here to share with the world their gifts of
spirituality and empathy that has been collected over many lifetimes.
The
following are signs of a sensitive soul:
1) You are affected deeply by aspects in your life
A sensitive soul experiences great depths of emotion, raging sadness, happiness, intensity. The energy
and emotions of others is felt deeply by you and it’s all too easy to forget your own needs and desires in the process.
2) You are highly intuitive
A sensitive soul is tuned into the perceptions and emotions of others around him/her
– often picking up on underlying sentiments of others that have not yet been spoken. Similarly you may have an increased
sensitivity to the environment around you eg light, sound.
3) Your tolerance for stimulation is lowered
Because you are constantly tuned into others and their environment, it can become all
too much. Your tolerances maybe lower then others because you are constantly bombarded with stimuli that others do not pick
up.
4) The life inside your thoughts is as active as the life around you
You are highly imaginative and complex and often in your own world. Your spiritual
connections run deep and you may even show signs of psychic ability. This can make reality are far less appealing place to
reside.
5) You require solitary time
As much as 70% of sensitive souls are introverted. While you
enjoy the company of others, your alone time is mandatory if you want to feel rejuvenated and calm.
How to live as a sensitive soul:
1) Pay attention to the first signs of overstimulation.
2) Identify the symptoms of your overstimulation- tension, anxiety and feeling weighed down are
just a few.
3) If possible take a break from the situation. Otherwise try to centre yourself by taking a few
deep breaths.
4) Make time to maintain self care practises. Mediatating, writing and excerising can all be a way to clear
out the stress of the day.
